Over the past few years, technology has been making strides in revolutionizing methods of learning and teaching with the support of various tools making children more focused and motivated in the coursework. Technology-enabled curriculum and smart boards have long replaced traditional blackboards and two-dimensional textbook images. As it moves into the next generation of media transformation, AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) are becoming the key platforms to be used in education technology. A vital part of inclusive developing an educational environment is to create customized curriculum content based on the skills and abilities of the students. One of the key requirements to create customized curriculum content is to identify the strength and weaknesses of the student in terms of being able to accomplish academic goals. This use case will lead to developing an effective solution to identify these qualities of a student and create curriculum content accordingly to accommodate his/her educational needs.

NooraNoora is an eight-year-old student with mild learning disabilities and performs her educational tasks with the support of special ed teachers in school. She finds it difficult to concentrate on tasks for an extended period. Noora has enrolled to a new school and her special ed teacher would like to evaluate her ability to comprehend and retain information related to her coursework. This will aid to create customized curriculum content for Noora to help her learn in the most engaging manner and achieve academic success to the best of her potential.

Noora attends an initial one-on-one assessment session with her new special ed teacher to evaluate her ability to comprehend and retain information related to her coursework.

After introductions, Noora is provided with a tablet configured with an app that presents a series of evaluation exercises designed in various formats (e.g. visual, textual, audio, multimedia, etc.).

As Noora solves the exercises, the app records key information (e.g. response time, solution correctness, reactions on the instructions, etc.) necessary to measure Noora’s skills and abilities.

By the end of the exercise, the app generates a detailed report outlining the strengths, weaknesses, skills and knowledge possessed by Noora.
