Education is a fundamental right, and my mission with TutoBraille is to ensure that individuals with visual impairments have equal access to learning resources in their native language. By leveraging technology, we can break down barriers and open new horizons for the visually impaired community.”

Smine Nawel

Nawal Smine is a visionary educator and accessibility advocate committed to advancing inclusive education for individuals with visual impairments. With a strong background in assistive technology and a passion for empowering the visually impaired community, Nawal conceptualized and developed TutoBraille—a pioneering online platform designed to teach Unified Arabic Braille.

Recognizing the scarcity of accessible Braille learning resources in Arabic, Nawal embarked on creating TutoBraille to bridge this critical gap. The platform offers a comprehensive and interactive curriculum that caters to learners at various proficiency levels, utilizing engaging lessons, quizzes, and audio-visual aids to facilitate effective learning. Under her leadership, TutoBraille has become an essential tool for promoting Braille literacy among Arabic-speaking individuals with visual impairments.

Nawal’s dedication to inclusivity and innovation was acknowledged when TutoBraille was supported by the Mada Innovation Program, reflecting her significant contribution to enhancing educational accessibility in the Arab world.
